Ingredients

For marinating the paneer:

  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Water (as needed)

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1 medium onion, cut into cubes
  • 1 medium capsicum (bell pepper), cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour mixed with 2 tablespoons water (cornflour slurry)
  • Spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Marinate the Paneer:
  • In a bowl, mix the cornflour, all-purpose flour, ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper powder.
  • Add water gradually to form a thick, smooth batter.
  • Add the paneer cubes to the batter and coat them well. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.

2. Fry the Paneer:

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the marinated paneer cubes.
  • Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.

  • Add the chopped garlic and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.

  • Lower the heat and add the soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

4. Combine Paneer and Sauce:

  • Add the fried paneer cubes to the pan and toss them gently to coat with the sauce.
  • Add the cornflour slurry and stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the paneer well.
  • Adjust the seasoning if necessary.

5. Garnish and Serve:

  • Garnish with chopped spring onions.
  • Serve hot as an appetizer or as a side dish with fried rice or noodles.
